France’s digital minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, announced on Friday that Apple will be issuing an update for the iPhone 12 in response to concerns raised by French regulators regarding electromagnetic radiation emitted by the devices. The move comes after France temporarily halted the sales of iPhone 12, which was released in 2020, due to findings that the model emitted higher levels of electromagnetic waves than allowed.
“Apple has assured me that it will implement an update for the iPhone 12 in the next few days,” stated Digital Minister Jean-Noel Barrot in a release to AFP news agency.
Both Apple and Minister Barrot emphasized that there is no threat to public health stemming from the device’s radiation emissions.
